Meet your guides to Winter Camp

Look for these friendly faces throughout the camp. Feel free to ask questions any time or say hello!

Brianne Alcala

Brianne is the founder of Odyssey of the Body, LLC, and Winter Camp. She is a former journalist, long-time editor, and writer of the Odyssey of the Body newsletter. (She also leads communications at a wonderful healthcare nonprofit, but Winter Camp is separate from her work there.) Brianne has lived in Maryland, Virginia, Germany, and now New York, and she is fascinated by how we live well. She hopes Winter Camp helps boost your spirits during the cold, dark season.

Jill Maurer

Jill is a nonprofit development officer and communications expert, military spouse, and mother of three who crossed paths with Brianne in the Hudson Valley of New York, when they both commiserated over the lengthy, gray winters. Now she lives in (sunnier, warmer) Charlottesville, Virginia, near her beloved UVA Wahoos, and is happy to be here to support Winter Campers.
